Liberalism advocates a democratic form of government and according to a research by Pew Research Centre of analysis that 69% of these highly prolific users identify as Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents. Some 60% of Democrats on Twitter describe their political leanings as liberal1. Diversity and inclusivity are fostered by Twitter and liberalism. Twitter enables people to interact and connect with people from different backgrounds. Liberals also support inclusivity and equal rights for all people, irrespective of their sexual orientation, gender, colour, or religious convictions. Twitter and liberalism both encourage tolerance for opposing viewpoints. Though it's not always done, Twitter urges users to respect and participate in healthy discourse with those who hold opposing views. Liberal philosophy places a similar emphasis on respecting and tolerating individual liberty as well as the diversity of viewpoints within society. While Twitter is a platform operated by a private corporation, liberalism concerns the role of government in society. Liberalism generally advocates for a limited government that protects individual rights and provides essential services such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure, while leaving room for private enterprise and personal freedoms. Twitter's governance, on the other hand, involves policies and regulations set by its administrators and moderators. In summary, while Twitter and liberalism are distinct entities—one being a social media platform and the other a political ideology—they share common values such as freedom of expression, diversity, inclusion, tolerance, and the promotion of individual rights. Understanding the dynamics between these two can provide insights into the intersection of digital communication platforms and political philosophies in contemporary society.
